PCPH’s list of Games like Dwarf Fortress 1. The learning curve is steep, but hey – so is Sisyphus’ famous hill.Īnd like Sisyphus, when the inevitable moment of defeat gets to you in Dwarf Fortress, you’re left with the excruciating yet exciting feeling of being “so close”.Īnd if you are looking for more games like Dwarf Fortress, you might consider giving these games a try. The game has no end point, so every fortress will fail – sooner or later.ĭwarf Fortress fans have coined “ Losing is Fun” as their unofficial slogan. I just can’t for the life of me find any sort of pattern or more specific source of problem.Or why would you search for Games like Dwarf Fortress?īecause fans of Dwarf Fortress seem to think so…?Īsk fans of Dwarf Fortress, the famously-hard online game where you lead a small band of dwarves and manage every aspect of their lives as you build and defend their fortress. I’ve played around with different combinations of games/accounts/etc and tried removing the same registry keys, but was unable to get a game going again. When I tried again it no longer worked! I went back to the same alt and again it did not work!!
STONEHEARTH GAME STARTS THEN CRASHES VERIFICATION
The second was that when I deleted the “Current user > Software > microsoft > internet explorer > low rights > elevationpolicy” (rough path) I was actually able to load up a game! I thought I had fixed it and was about to post here, but I tested on an alt (bc two step verification takes long to log in and out) so I needed to test on my main account.
STONEHEARTH GAME STARTS THEN CRASHES DOWNLOAD
The first and potentially most important is that removing one of the keys allowed me to actually download the client files to my computer again so there’s that, yay! I went into regedit and started removing roblox related keys. Okay, I checked the temp files and all that seemed to be there were logs. If I were to guess this is a problem with the launcher and my ideal test would be to try loading into a game and somehow avoiding the launcher, but even if that is possible I don’t currently have a way to get the client files on my computer without freezing. As such I know don’t even have a folder in “…/AppData/Local/Roblox/Versions” that has the client.exe.
STONEHEARTH GAME STARTS THEN CRASHES UPDATE
I’ve tried to reinstall which in the past would run the update cycle and freeze after as described above, but today I can’t even seem to get the update cycle. I uninstalled the client and deleted the folder at “…/AppData/Local/Roblox”. As I mentioned earlier this started 6 or 7 months ago, although I cannot remember any exact dates so that’s a rough estimate.
STONEHEARTH GAME STARTS THEN CRASHES HOW TO
The bug happens every time for me without fail, but I don’t know how to reproduce it. To work around this I had to navigate to the “…/AppData/Local/Roblox/Versions” to the folder with the studio.exe and run the one that would not startup with the launcher. Again, studio would still update no problem if it needed to, the problem was always after. The process would just end and nothing would happen. The problem I was having with studio was that some times when starting up the launcher would show on my screen for a split second disappear and then do nothing, however it would not freeze like the client does. I did also have some problems with studio for quite some time as well, but that seemed to have fixed itself around mid June.

I should mention that from what I remember the client will update (when there are updates available) so it seems the crash happens after that part of the client startup. The bug is pretty straightforward to explain, any time I try to click a play button on the site and Roblox tries to launch it immediately freezes and crashes. I’ve actually been dealing with this bug for probably around 6 or 7 months now, but I never really bothered to report it because I almost never play games and studio works fine (for the most part, i’ll expand later).
